Meet Diane

Diane Quimby Schaubach is the owner and designer of DQ Designs & Boutique. Her mother, Adele, an art teacher, gave Diane her very first sewing lessons — sparking a love for art and design from a young age.

When her own daughters started dancing, Diane volunteered to help out backstage with the other moms. She took an interest in the construction of professional ballet tutus and started designing from her home studio in Cary, North Carolina starting in 2011.

There’s nothing better than a pile of gorgeous silk and vintage lace.

FROM SKETCH TO STAGE

Diane’s love of vintage fashion and classic art is evident in every DQ Designs original.

New ideas can come from a delicate piece of lace, a floral bouquet, or a beautiful yard of vintage fabric.

Inspired by her daughters’ travels as well as her own, Diane sources the finest quality fabrics, trims, and other materials from around the globe — there’s always a little extra room in her luggage, just in case!

Less is more.

Made with LOVE in north carolina

DQ Designs & Boutique is a labor of love born out of Diane’s home sewing studio in Cary, North Carolina. Every piece is designed and crafted by hand, each one a custom-made, original creation.

Diane has designed and constructed tutus for NYC Ballet principal dancers including Lauren Lovette and Ashley Bouder. The Balanchine Trust and Jerome Robins Foundation have also given Diane their approval to replicate costume designs for the “Stars of American Ballet” and other NYCB dancers.
